Species sightings reports

Species engagement

The species list used on the ecocentrus site is a first attempt at defining Britain's common species and a list that can help define the biodiversity of each garden, naturally there are a lot of horticultural species not included and we will probably be making attempts to introduce more of these given their potential impact upon biodiversity.

Engaging more with the wildlife in your garden and ecouraging more native wildlife back into your garden will help the biodiversity of your local area.

Scenario: If we notice the presence of House Sparrows in our neighbourhood but not in our garden then we would have a clear indication that we could modify the habitat in our garden to suit House Sparrows and they will probably come.

That's one example of how the data we share here can be used to increase biodiversity, there are many more examples and we will continue to list them as we get more time...

p.s. I you have sighted any species which we havn't listed yet, please email me with the species name and any other information you have which may help us such as links to info on the species. That will speed things along a bit. Cheers,

Matt mjdmorton@ecocentrus.co.uk
